Trigger Point Therapy

"Trigger Point" Pain Relief

square-massage.jpgA trigger point is a hyperirritable spot, or "knot", found within a taut band of skeletal muscle or in the muscle’s fascia. It is often painful on compression and can give rise to characteristic referred pain and tenderness; a trigger point may be induced by trauma, poor posture or by muscle strain or tension. Your Remedial Therapist will treat trigger points by applying steady even pressure, which is gradually increased (well within your tolerance for pain) and repeat several times during a session for each trigger point in order to relieve your pain.
