Pregnancy Massage

square-flowers.jpgPregnancy is a very special and beautiful time in most women's lives and preparing for the precious cargo is generally a truly blissful time.

As your baby grows, so too does your body of course; and therefore you will start to experience both physiological and structural changes. These changes can sometimes create aches and pains throughout your body, that perhaps you have never experienced before.

The hormone relaxin is also released during pregnancy and is designed to help loosen your ligaments in order to allow for carriage of the baby through the pelvis. Relaxin is released from day one of your pregnancy and has the effect of loosening all ligaments in the body. This can therefore lead to unstable vertebrae and joints.

Muscle spasms are very common during pregnancy, as your body tries to stabilise itself from the loosening ligaments and joints. Pregnancy massage helps to relieve these muscle spasms and in turn allows the body to realign itself naturally.

Pregnancy can be very tiring for you, as you are carrying around an excessive amount of weight during this time. As an expectant Mum, you are not only carrying your beautiful developing baby, but the associated extra body weight and feeding fluids that are nourishing the tissues of your baby.

Pregnancy massage aims to alleviate the discomfort associated with your rapidly changing body by using specific and targeted treatment protocols best suited to pregnancy. Pregnancy massage is a wonderful treatment and helps to relax and rejuvenate you during your pregnancy.

Pregnancy massages are performed by our highly trained and experienced remedial therapists, who will position you correctly and comfortably using the specialised pregnancy belly pillow support.
